▶ EVENT.005
Summer continues to shine upon Lunatia, morning fresh with more sunny weather. The air is slick with salt from the sea as everyone on holiday shows some skin along the shores of Level 2. Fliers plastered all over the city announce the Vulpus Astra Celebration at Level 3. According to the lore told by the nine-tailed fox envoy: the Conclave of Amegahara, the brightest constellation in the sky represents the great nine-tailed fox god Vulpus who ferried ancient Prismals from the old world on his back during the calamity.
The Amegahara foxes believe they are the descendants of Vulpus and worship him as a god. As they are of the belief that the great calamity will return once more, they have chosen to embrace a hedonistic lifestyle, preferring to spend the so-called last of their days indulging in food and drink, embracing all their whims and passions without an ounce of shame, and enjoying a constant bacchanalian level of pleasure and delight.
▶ There’s a Starfox Waiting in the Sky
Day 1 - 2 | top
A few of these fox-kin will try to coerce the Moonblessed into attending their celebrations with promises of a good time. Agree and they will lead you to either to the heart of Level 1’s PrismaPlace to play around carefreely or to Level 3’s red light district. In the latter, colorful lanterns are strung up along the buildings occasionally swaying along to the booming traditional drum music that can still be heard several blocks down.
Swaying are the street performers, showing off their talents in dancing, cantrips, and merriment! Festival food, drinks, and trinkets are being sold in the stalls that line the streets, but keep your belongings and demichroma close. No matter where you are, there are pickpockets abound!
For those who desire another form of entertainment, you can enjoy the company of a few dancing nine-tailed fox courtesans grouped up in Caihong in their food tents. These strikingly beautiful creatures with golden eyes, silver hair, and off-shoulder robes of silk serve free drinks and do their best to cozy up to all their customers. However, foxes are known for their mischievous nature. If given the chance, they will leave a single strand of their magical hair to latch onto your head, temporarily causing you to take on the physical appearance of another Moonblessed. There is also a chance that you will inherit that Moonblessed’s personal dreams or deepest, darkest fantasies that evening. The effects will wear off completely after a day, meaning you will retain the form overnight. Sweet dreams!

▶ Never Drink the Kool-Aid
Day 3 - 5 | top
As the festivities progress, the Moonblessed may notice a specific group of masked foxes calling themselves the Oracles of the Sinless gathered before a secluded temple in Caihong. They grow erratic in their dancing, especially once the evening looms. Their chanting will also grow more impassioned as they weep before the new moon, asking the fox god to guide them. An elder fox whose mask is adorned in chrysanthemums leads the chanting, speaking in a foreign tongue that the Moonblessed will not be able to understand.
At first, passing Lunatian locals dismiss them as a crazy cult that takes the legends too seriously and gives the same repeat performance every year. However, the leader of the Sinless will suddenly start to float as his eyes take on an eerie glow, delivering the much awaited revelation:
“Blood of a hundred, blessed by the moon, must stain the altar of the fox god before the star dims.
Only then shall the calamitous beast lie in rest, satisfied for eternity by this votive blood offering.”
If you are in the vicinity, now would be a good time to start running before it’s too late! The masked cultists will be on the prowl. They are more likely to try and capture the Moonblessed who don’t have Cordis/fox-like affinities and will leave their fellow ‘kin’ alone. However, this is not always the case. The chroma within the Moonblessed is too precious to ignore.

▶ What does the Fox Say?
Once the Oracles of the Sinless are subdued, they will be brought down to the Lightless by the Moon Knights and will be taken back by the Conclave of Amegahara once they leave Lunatia and return home. The Amegahara foxes promises that the Sinless will serve a long and grave sentence for their foolish deeds. They then apologize for their failure to realize that there were cultists hidden among their numbers — it appears they’re not affiliated with each other, if the masks of the Sinless and their different titles didn’t hint it enough. They’re willing to give the Moonblessing a history lesson later on, but that will have to wait due to more pressing matters at hand.
The rescued Moonblessed will be found in various stages of ferality and intoxication. At this rate, the symptoms might progress well into the next lunar cycle… The Moonblessed who drank the strange wine has the possibility of gaining access to a temporary, one-time transformation inspired by the Vulpus Astra and receive exalted nine-tailed fox traits, regardless of their original blessing. As the Vulpus Astra represents freedom to pursue desire and surrender to impulse, their traits are as such:

- A popular tradition of the Vulpus Astra Celebration is tying wishes to the special floating star-shaped lanterns which are sent to the sky, where the god Vulpus will bless them with his protection for the coming year. Friendly Amegahara will be handing out these bright lanterns at the newly set up small shrines beside open bodies of water, so that Moonblessed and Prismals alike can attach any wishes they may have. They give instructions to release the lanterns at the highest point they can find and recommends the top of a hill that overlooks the city.
- A cantankerous but foxy fortune teller named Sestera has set up a tent in one of the alleyways of the red light district. She’s only offering her services for a few days, so take the chance to go with someone before she closes! Through her enchanted teas, she’ll be able to see the unspoken bonds between you and the person in your thoughts. Due to the high demand for her services, she will often only take two customers at a time — no more, no less. Witnessing her prepare the aromatic brews is a treat in itself, but try not to get distracted by her stunning magic or equally stunning figure. Her pet weasel has the habit of nicking trinkets from unsuspecting customers, which Sestera will apologize for if and only if the weasel is caught. When the tea is ready to serve, she instructs you and your companion to drink equal parts from the same cup until only flower petals remain. What do the petals hold in store for you?
- 🌸 “A dire, hopeless, cursed love life. Don’t even bother approaching your heart’s desire. Don’t stand near them. Don’t even look at them. They will reject you instantly for being an abomination. You will die alone.”
Optional Effect: “The next friend you moonlace with or the next lover you lie with shall inflict a plague that will spread across your body. You will either transform into an ugly being (appearance of your choosing) or your body starts being covered in something gross such as pimples, acne, or warts. Yes, even in the areas you would not believe it is possible to grow them!” - 🌸🌸 “Your future and/or present partners will barely tolerate your existence and often complain of something insignificant such as your odor, your fashion sense, or even the food you eat. They will also take your beloved pet when you inevitably break up.”
Optional Effect: “Your future and/or present partners will think of your rival and may even call out their name in the throes of passion — this could happen during the most intimate of moments or maybe when they innocently talk in their sleep.” - 🌸🌸🌸 “You will have a mediocre love life and fill your partner with deep feelings of ‘meh, it’s better than nothing.’’”
NSFW Option: “You will only be able to get half aroused and be forced to fake a significant amount of orgasms to please your partner.” - 🌸🌸🌸🌸 “Sometimes your partner will watch your behind sway as you walk. You will always be able to titillate them by simply calling their name. Your love life is filled with good passion, but you occasionally argue over why the welcome mat smells like a warm-blooded mammal’s pee.”
NSFW Option: “You will lie with the next person you come across after hearing this fortune, thinking they are your soulmate when in fact you will miss your soul mate by a few seconds upon falling for the trickeries of lust.” - 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 “This is a bond that will be unyielding and eternal. You will be reincarnated many times over and fall in love in every single lifetime regardless of sex, age, or species. In your next life, your partner will be a mighty, towering dragon and you will be a titmouse, yet somehow, you will make it work.”
NSFW Option: “Tonight you will sleep, and in your dreams, you will be visited by the face of your destined lover. Spread your arms and legs for them and welcome them into your embrace, and you will find eternal love.”
- 🌸 “A dire, hopeless, cursed love life. Don’t even bother approaching your heart’s desire. Don’t stand near them. Don’t even look at them. They will reject you instantly for being an abomination. You will die alone.”

They are more likely to try and capture the Moonblessed who don’t have Cordis/fox-like affinities and will leave their fellow ‘kin’ alone. However, this is not always the case. The chroma within the Moonblessed is too precious to ignore.
- The Sinless foxes can take on the form of trusted friends and allies, easily blending in and replicating behavior traits, magic, and speech patterns without detection. The only way to truly distinguish them is through their scent, which can range from pleasant and sweet to cloying and intoxicating. They will use their pheromones if you try to resist them. Be it by passion or infatuation, you will give in if it’s the last thing they do.
- Captured Moonblessed will be taken to the basement of the temple and placed into enchanted cages that will nullify extraordinary abilities and magic, making the prisoners as strong as an ordinary human being. To prepare the prisoners for sacrifice, the cultists paint red rune designs on their skin and clothe them in special silks. Then, the prisoners are made to drink the sacred (fruity!) wine laced with strange conjurations. These will take time to fully take effect, but the first signs are quick to surface. First, their eyes turn golden. Then, their skin begins to glow a ghastly pale. Seeing the early signs, the cult proclaims that you have been blessed by the gods of the blue moon. “Praise be to Cordis!” they cry. “Praise be to Vulpus!”
- Once the Moon Knights and the Amegahara receive note of Sinless’ activities, they will immediately mobilize the remaining Moonblessed and some of their own people to raid the temple and free the sacrifices. Bust through the defenses of the sultry culists to free your allies! Aside from the fox’s strong abilities to charm, they are very agile and will make use of a familiar graceful enchantment which further enhances their acrobatic traits. They are often difficult to pin down and capture, but this is not impossible! Some possess strong earth magic that will split the ground beneath you or rocks to encapsulate you, rendering you immobile. Hope you remember how to cast the flexibility spell from before if you want to keep up with them!

As the Vulpus Astra represents freedom to pursue desire and surrender to impulse, their traits are as such:
- The moon will appear gold in the sky to the eyes of those affected.
- In addition to earlier mentioned golden eyes and ghastly skin, those under the effect will potentially cause their hair to turn white, their nails razor sharp, and their canines to grow into fangs. They may either be a full nine-tailed fox with fur of any colour and towering far larger than a regular fox (as big as a small jeep in height) or a humanoid fox with the mentioned effects and nine white tails that are tipped with red fur at the ends.
- Nine-tailed foxes are associated with earth-aspected magic. They can summon rocks and manipulate the earth through dancing. Crystals and precious gems can’t be created this way, but they may be manipulated such as doing illumination tricks and mind tricks.
- Their personality traits include being logical, refined in manner, and duplicitous. They have a penchant for deception and trickery, sleight of hand style illusions and especially imitating others. They are the most keenly observant among the Moonblessed and can lie rather convincingly due to their cunning nature.
- They are known for their beauty and strong powers of seduction. Those affected with this transformation will be able to use their body, such as through their dance movements, to draw others to them and enchant them entirely. They dislike heavy clothing and love beautiful, light outfits. They have a very shameless and exhibitionist attitude when it comes to intimacy, enjoying being watched and desired. They can have extremely powerful pheromones, more so than every other Cordis creature, leading most of the local fox-kin to become courtesans or those in similar nature.
