This is a plotting post for our next event, which will also welcome our latest batch of arrivals! We've made this OOC post for all your plotting needs. As always, you are free to backdate and backlog event threads for as long as you need.

▶ What Happens in Obscuria Stays in Obscuria

One late and quiet evening, all Moonblessed will receive a secure email in their inboxes:

Captain Natela

Good evening.

This is Captain Natela. After observing your courageous deeds for the past four months, I brought it upon myself to send this missive and humbly request your aid in our upcoming mission. This is not mandatory. If you would rather not participate, please disregard this message.

After several incidents of violence within Level 4 (also known as the Lightless), the Moon Knights ran tests on all the criminals involved and discovered a strange substance in their bloodstream. The use of a dangerous, illegal drug called the Glow has become widespread throughout the Lightless. We suspect these drugs may have also been smuggled into Level 3.

Initial test results indicate that Glow is able to drastically enhance moonblessing traits to hazardous levels. As a side effect, it may theoretically cause an extreme increase in appetite for chroma. All evidence and samples for the case have been deposited at the Lunar Scientia Headquarters. Investigations are still ongoing. Attached is a a photo of Glow for your reference.

Reports conclude that Glow’s main distributor is in Obscuria, a luxury resort and casino in the Lightless, notorious for being the favored hangout of many syndicates especially Eclipse. Sources say that Eclipse’s leader, Janus, will soon be hosting the King of Crystal Fist Tournament, a lavish fighting tournament where we believe the use of Glow is featured most prominently.

Investigate the fighting tournament and report back to Moon Knights Headquarters. Should you choose to accept this mission, you will personally be given clearance to enter the Lightless.

We Moon Knights will provide all the support we can. Keep your wits about you and stay alert. I look forward to your continued success.

For the first time, the Moonblessed will be venturing to the underground criminal zone: Level 4, or the Lightless. The Lightless can be accessed via a secured elevator at the Outpost in Level 3 by using a special gold card on the panel. The Moon Knights stationed there will hand them out after confirming Captain Natela’s email.

A well-built, friendly, and handsome Moon Knight named Fahrouk enthusiastically steps forward to provide the necessary materials for your mission. His ursine ears perk up as he tells you the gold card has also been loaded with an all-access pass for Obscuria. After this mission, the card will be rendered void.

• A Preparation is key, Fahrouk says — he will clear access to the Lightless database for the Moonblessed, allowing them to search official criminal records and map layouts of Level 4. Study your enemies and you’ll beat them at their own game.
  
  Fahrouk also informs them that the event has a dress code. Put on your best cocktail dress or suit and be prepared to venture through an evening of glamorous and questionable activities! If you need help picking out an outfit or shopping for one, this is your chance.
  
  Before the Moonblessed use the elevator, he says to not leave without a good luck hug! His daughter always gives him good luck bear hugs. Moonblessed generate chroma from moonlacing, so he earnestly encourages everyone to hug before the mission.

The luxury resort Obscuria is full of loud colors, the ringing of slot machines, the tinkling of wine glasses, the smoke of fancy cigars, and the buzz of the posh elite of the Lightless. There’s still time before the tournament so go ahead and enjoy what Obscuria has to offer!

Oh, but don’t get carried away. Your mission is to investigate the tournament. Participation is not required. While enjoying the facilities, try speaking to the spectators at the arena or the gamblers at the casino for info. Conversing with the tournament fighters will prove a little more difficult due to their busy schedules, but they’re more accessible to fellow participants. Prepare a pseudonym and have a fake backstory ready before approaching your targets.

• B You might find yourself drawn to the dining tables with built-in roulettes. The tables here have two drink menus: New Moon (non-alcoholic) and Full Moon (alcoholic). The roulette wheels have three colors: red (Odds), blue (Even), and purple (0 and 00). If the ball lands on the number you selected, the drink you win will depend on its color.
  
  
  • RED
    New Moon: Vermillion Sunset Juice: Carrot and a hint of chili pepper ground together in spiced ice. Causes you to burp flames at random and yell things you might have wanted to keep secret.
    Full Moon: Inferno Direwolf Margarita: Causes an uncomfortably hot feeling and strikes you with the urge to undress.
    
    
  • BLUE
    New Moon: Cotton Candy Dream: Bubblegum flavored ice cream topped with rainbow sprinkles and cotton candy. Makes you float in the air and feel giddy or flirty around the first person you see.
    Full Moon: Queen's Ghost Chiller: Causes a terrible chill and the urge to closely huddle with your neighbors for warmth.
    
    
  • PURPLE
    New Moon: Like You A Latte: Latte mixed with berry bits. Berries can be a choice between blueberries or raspberries. Can be served hot or cold. Gives you a sudden burst of energy. Somehow you can't stop doing things, no matter how much you want to!
    Full Moon: Bangin' Belle Stunner: Causes attraction to anyone who looks upon your form. It’s difficult for others to look away from you.
  
  All effects only last up to about an hour before they wear off. Thankfully, food isn’t done by roulette.
  
  
• C Each try at the slot machines is surprisingly cheap. Why not give it a shot? Keep yourself in check; these machines are designed to subtly siphon all of your funds. Keep a friend or two close for emergency moonlacing in case you get hooked. There are also poker tables, mahjong, and other addicting games available for you and your friends to play around the game area.

▶ Obligatory Tournament Arc

Next to the hotel is the arena, one of the most infamous battlegrounds that attracts the strongest fighters in the Lightless and their many syndicates, such as Eclipse. During this year’s King of Crystal Fist Tournament, participants can test their strength against one another in an all-out fight.

There is only one rule: no magic allowed. All participants are given bracelets or anklets that will completely remove any extraordinary powers, superhuman feats, or any other supernatural abilities they have. This includes any permanent moonblessing traits.

In the ring, they must fight with only non-magical weapons if not their bare fists. To win, one fighter must either push their opponent out of the ring, knock them out, or kill them. In these lawless grounds, very little care about violence when they’re already in prison. And they love it! Violence, that is. Prison, not so much. The audience is full of thrill-seekers, as it isn’t unheard of for even spectators to die during the tournament.

Don’t expect an adjudicator to bail you out; do what you can to survive. There are no medical stations in the arena. Anyone injured will have to rely on others to moonlace with or call a medic in.

• A There is a wide variety of participating fighters from all walks of life and moonblessings. Notable opponents include hyena or serpent-like Prismals. Many of these fighters use underhanded tactics, such as pulling hidden knives laced with poison and throwing dust in the eyes of their opponents. And the worst part is, the adjudicators turn a blind eye to it all. It is possible for Moonblessed to be matched with each other, so you may find yourself fighting a familiar face.
  
  
• B In one of the later rounds, the Moonblessed will encounter Barbarus, a top fighter from Eclipse. True to his name, this muscular man wields barbed weapons. He has been enhanced with a staggering amount of Glow, leaving him to be essentially unbeatable in the arena. All Moonblessed who happen to face him will find him impossible to overcome and will be driven to the brink of death for their attempts.

Eventually, the tournament comes to a close. To no one’s surprise, Barbarus is declared the King of Crystal Fist. After the award ceremony, Janus is amused enough to invite people to a private party at his penthouse on the hotel’s rooftop.


▶ This isn’t even his Final Form

Once they arrive, it becomes clear that the Moonblessed are the only ones invited. Bodyguards wearing suits surround the area, and Janus enters the scene with diabolical laughter, revealing a captured Fahrouk, one of the friendly knights from before. Fahrouk’s voice shakes with fear, sorrow and regret as he confesses how he was forced to hand over each and every one of their names. But why? His motives quickly become clear as Janus’s men reveal Fahrouk’s little daughter in their custody. It seems that Janus is aware of the Moon Knights’ plans to investigate Glow. Stupid Knights! Did you think you could fight him on his home turf?

Janus barks at his men to deliver Barbarus a few extra doses of Glow, which they inject directly into his bloodstream. The large, armored man cries out in agony as he grows grotesquely larger, muscles pulsing with fluorescent red veins. Humongous, bat-like wings as long as he is tall sprout from his back, and he screams. His eyes now filled with rage, he starts attacking everything that gets in his way. The Moonblessed must coordinate to stop his rampage and capture Janus before he escapes with the hostage.

• A Barbarus hovers above and around the rooftop for the fight, constantly hurling energy bombs from above. If a Moonblessed comes too close, his barbed chains will take hold of them, fling them off the roof, and lead them to their deaths. Make sure you don’t fall! To anyone out of his reach, he will shoot large flaming projectiles at them. However, his eyesight isn’t the best. You might want to use that to your advantage...
  
  
• B All of Barbarus’ weapons are now laced with Glow. Janus and his bodyguards are also shooting laced bullets. Those hit with the drug will end up the same way, forced into their transformations and ready to lose their minds. To release them from their transformations, you can either render them unconscious or give them a deep kiss to quickly overwhelm the Glow with new chroma.

When Barbarus and the bodyguards are subdued, Janus makes a final, futile attempt to escape, only to trip right into his swimming pool with a splash! Bring them all to the Moon Knights Headquarters and Fahrouk will tearfully thank the Moonblessed for saving him and his daughter. Their reward for cooperation includes a very generous amount of demichroma to their digital wallets or bank accounts and heartfelt thank you bear hugs from both Fahrouk and his daughter.

A few days later, Fahrouk and his daughter will send a message via the device to the Moonblessed to ask how they are and thank them again for their help. They’re also here to tell them about the gift shops in Level 1. There are now colorful machines that dispense special edition bromides of the Moonblessed new and old, created by the Prismals in pure admiration and gratitude for everything they’ve done. Some of the Prismals are indeed big fans! With a wide grin, Fahrouk proudly says that he and his daughter already have bromides of every Moonblessed.

Bromides can be acquired by the Moonblessed for free so they can have a copy of themselves and each of their friends. To find out your character’s or any other character’s bromide, just type in their name here and voila!

▶ REMINDERS

• As a reminder, this mission is not mandatory. Moonblessed can disregard the email and move on with their daily lives. Likewise, participation in the tournament is not required to carry out the mission. All of these are already stated above.
  
  
• In Part II, Barbarus will be undefeatable regardless of the circumstances. Your character is free to win against every other opponent if you so desire. Barbarus will only become defeatable in Part III.

Log Plans: Outer Atsushi is here for info-gathering and support hugs, as well as the wide variety of drinks. Especially the cuddly, flirty, and secret-telling ones. He's also willing to do emergency moonlacing for both losers of the tournament and people who just bet way too much.

Log Plans:
Sandalphon won't trust that de-powering business, so he won't participate in the tournament unless a certain Captain wants him to. He's inclined to wait in the wings (harhar) in case any of his friends gets into serious trouble and look after them. Since he has Lucifer's wings again, he can spot injured Moonblessed a little heal or two.

Other than looking after others, he'll try to snoop around for information. He's a surprisingly dapper dresser when the occasion calls for it, but he'll look wildly out of place in a noisy casino environment all the same. Send help.

When it comes to the final Barbarus fight, Sandalphon has the advantage of flight. If anyone wants a team-up or needs to be caught mid-fall, this Primarch's got you covered. Unfortunately while he can carry people and buff their damage potential, he's otherwise a selfish and reckless attacker who attracts enemy attacks. Considering the circumstances, this guy really shouldn't want to be hit...

So, Eichi is going to be coming out of the hospital Just in time for this! He is super excited to be able to do anything, even if he'll also be aware of his health, so he's going to be going head first into as much as he can! He's an incredible schemer, so even if he might laugh lightly and suggest that he's a horrible actor, he'll be too good at blending into crowds and coming up with backstories. But anyway, he's very keen on hugging everyone as encouraged!

Along with talking, mingling and such, he'll be up to trying the dining table roulettes! Both alcoholic or non-alcoholic are okay since he's used to the idea of drinking after dup. I am up for any type of threads with this, pre-planned or genuine RNG! He'll hold back from too much actual gambling though.

Then, he'll also be watching fights in the tournament, but can't participate at all. Honestly, just the fact that there's no medical help in the area even though he won't be fighting puts him at risk so that's fine enough.

For the big fight, I'd prefer that Eichi avoid getting hit and transforming himself, but I am up for him kissing anyone out of danger, or even darting between things to help out! And of course, bromides are fun.

Annnd I'll probably have prompts just in general for Eichi getting out of the hospital/prior to this! So I'm up to plenty. Since I'm just back from vacation, I'll be warming up by focusing on Eichi like this!

Smut Preferences: Kinklist here, Ren's 23 and I'm open to having him sleep with most people in the 18-40 range as long as he's at least met them once before and gets on well enough with them to want to. He might be a bit more mission-focused while they're down there, but hey, glad-to-be-alive smut after the fact or healing smut for people in the tournament is always an option...
Log Plans: SO Ren is not a fighter when magic/powers/cards aren't involved so he's definitely not going to be in the tournament proper, he's going to be spectating and schmoozing for information. Ren's extremely good at getting that sort of thing out of people and making them play into his hands, so if anyone's not so great at the info thing (or they're good at it and want someone else who is), he's your guy. He's also big on games but not so much on gambling, so he might be helpful in getting people out of temporary slot machine addictions. That said, I am planning to have him get some shenanigans out of the drinks roulette too, and probably getting A Bit Too Into watching the tournament because he likes displays of skill. This also means he will be entirely prepared to moonlace to help out anyone who gets super wrecked during their tournament rounds.

Regarding the final battle, Ren has permanent Cordis ice powers because Ware Wolf Shop and also his Psyqualia, which is capable of pulling in someone's spirit and inflicting psychic pain on them. It definitely won't be as effective as usual in this scenario, but he can probably stall Barbarus and keep him in agony for short bursts while other people do actual physical damage. I'm debating whether to have him get hit with Glow, but honestly if I do it'll probably be for ~dramatic rescue kisses~ because I'm a sap, so if anyone wants to do that then let me know! Ren is also terrible and perfectly ready to get injured in place of people he likes despite complaining about his friends' self-sacrificing bullshit a lot, so that's also a possibility.

Afterwards, Ren is probably just going to want to chill and make sure people are okay and also collect every embarrassing bromide of people he knows because reasons. He might visit people he saw in the tournament or drag them out for shenanigans if they're not too beat up for it.

I'm still trying to decide if it's more amusing to get SQQ wrecked by Mr Big And Glowy in the tournament or to have him watch (it'd be his preference, but information and shenanigans and a lack of his usual people to outsource to changes things up), so that might amuse Ren either which way

I can also offer a dramatic rescue kiss but it'd be the opposite of sappy since a) SQQ has zero expertise in this arena, b) he'll never talk about it, and c) this world's system of solutions is so fucking weird. SQQ will either be fighting or running interference for people who can't take the hits being doled out during that end boss fight either way, because that's what you do when you notice there are people way higher in power levels willing to do the direct duking it out

• Tournament: Rhus is not interested in participating in the tournament because fisticuffs isn't his thing (and he knows he'd suck anyway). He would rather be watching it, but I'm open to having him coach a participant instead! Like as a sparring partner, moonlace friend, and general tip-giver and shit.
  
• He may also be a general medic! He feels awkward about healing magic nowadays but will help if any tournament participants really need it, if moonlacing is too slow or not their cup of tea.
  
• Obscuria: How can I not. HOW CAN I NOT-- these will make an appearance in his TL, you can bet on it. Def looking for smut with these.
  
• Gambling: Mahjong anyone? Rhus used to play it, liked playing it but has forgotten some things. He may also make bets while watching the tournament, just because he can, and for something to do while people are hurting each other for entertainment.
  
• Penthouse "party": Definitely will be here. Does anyone want a battle companion? He'll be going in as a white mage, so he'll be a healer rather than a tanky tank.
  
• Aftermath: Rhus will be napping or taking a big break from all that shit, so he's open to relaxing-- or "omg we survived" sex with some people too.

Log Plans: Ooof. Belias will be going along for the mission. Despite being battle-ready, he will not be participating in the arena fight, which means he'll be free to heal any characters up who will need it! Belias will be very eager to do this too, ranging from platonic to romantic (depending on how close you are to him.)

He's going to quit being such a nice guy when Janus steps forward, though. With his having a daughter himself this whole blackmail plot will hit a sore spot with him and he's going to actually fight, and ruthlessly! For people who only know him as that nice eccentric guy, this will probably be whiplash, especially if he lapses into his berserker trance. Since he's also an archer, he'll be transforming his sword into a bow per its power and using it to put shots into Barbarus. This does use magic and he's going to be very useless/in pain/bleeding afterwards! It'd be a nice karma moment if the people he helped out in the arena came back to help him when he needed it and I'd like to play that out.

Log Plans: Mist loves crime, like, a lot. In his campaign, he's the rogue, and he's also a forger so...snooping? Yes, please, always. He's going to be sneaking around and doing crook things basically. Here are some ideas I'm running with:

-Mist doesn't gamble (his fiance is a casino owner, he knows what's up), so he'll be avoiding the game area. Drinking, however, he might do while waiting for the tournament or other events, so if anyone is up for that, that'd be cool. In his Campaign, he's dressed like an Erune for fancy events. Sorry, Granblue players, I needed fancy clothes for him from somewhere.
-Generic crook things! Mist can turn himself not only invisible but ethereal for an entire minute, so he'll be popping back into existence every now and then. Maybe you'll catch him. He also often uses Mage Hand (a spell that lets him summon an invisible hand) to pick pockets and take things for himself. He can be shady anywhere the event takes place. Help him, let him help you, it's all good.
-Fighting! Mist is decent at hit and run tactics and works well in a fighting group (obviously). I'm open to some cool team-ups. I'm also very open to the idea of him getting hit with a laced weapon and absolutely starting to go nuts.

I'd also just. Love 'Crime Friends' for him. He misses being a criminal so much, why can't he just steal Chroma? smh
