Player Plot: Lunatia Charity Auction Ball
Lunatia Charity Auction Ball
Hello, Prismatica! This is Shen Qingqiu (and Inuzuka Shino)'s player, coming back out of the wild blue yonder after the last few months with a player plot running here in April. Introducing... a Charity Auction Ball!In order to raise funds for a monument commemorating recent tragedies and support ongoing research into Chroma, several of the social elite in Lunatia have settled on holding a charity ball on April 16th. All Moonblessed will be invited, and those running the event will attempt to contact Moonblessed ahead of time to ask if they'd be willing to participate in a Moonblessed date auction—or if they have anything they'd wish to donate to the silent auction.
The timeline of events will look like the following:
- April 3rd: OOC announcement of the Charity Auction Ball goes live. Sign-ups for Moonblessed Date Auction participants begins. Sign-ups for Silent Auction items open. ICly, all Moonblessed receive an invitation to the Charity Auction Ball today. ICly, Moonblessed can begin signing themselves or others up as Moonblessed Charity Auction dates as of this time.
- April 10th: At 23:59 GMT (by timestamps), sign-ups for both Moonblessed Date Auction participants and Silent Auction items close.
- April 11th: The OOC post listing all Moonblessed Date Auction participants goes live. This OOC post will also include all Silent Auction items. Bidding can start on both at this time.
- April 15th: At 23:59 GMT (by timestamps), the Moonblessed Date Auction bidding and the Silent Auction bidding closes. After closing, winners of Moonblessed Date Auctions or Silent Auctions will be informed on the OOC post of their win(s).
- April 16th: The log for the Charity Date Auction is posted!
Charity Ball
Hosted on the evening of April 16th, this is a Triple Moon event, seeking the maximum blessing from the Lunatian Gods. The event is ticketed, and has been advertised directly via the communication device. Tickets bought in pairs or greater bulk do have a discount! Tickets can also be donated.
The charity ball is a formal wear event. While dinner is not being served, an expansive variety of finger food options are provided, along with several drink options, offered both as alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. Some of the more unique ones include:
Saturday Night Fever: Refreshing pomegranate with a slight tart twist at the end. Those who imbibe this drink will feel motivated to get out on the dance floor, finding new or familiar faces and inviting or accepting invitations to dance. The effects last for an hour, with moonlacing having no visible effect. Willpower definitely overpowers this!
Dirty Dancing: Lime and cucumber? Sounds refreshing, or strange, but it turns out to mostly be refreshing and just a touch sweet! Leaves you feeling daring enough to try out new moves, either on the dance floor or in your flirting game or anywhere else in life. The effects last for an hour, and unlike usual, only intensifies with moonlacing.
La La Land: Either champagne or sparkling cider serves as a base for this drink, which is artfully decorated by a local crystal fruit and layered in colour from golden to lilac. Drinking this can leave a person feeling bubbly and effervescent, but also can leave them hiccuping bubbles until it wears off, within fifteen minutes, or a character moonlaces.
Charity Dunk Tank
Why is there a dunk tank at a charity auction ball? Who knows, but there's definitely one here!
In a room attached to the main ballroom, volunteers will be provided costumes or bathing suits to wear while they sit (alone or in pairs) over a dunk tank. There are three dunk tanks set up in this room! People wishing to dunk those currently sitting at a dunk tank may make a donation and receive a ball in turn. The more donations, the more balls they receive!

After each successful dunk, the volunteer may either still be "on shift" and return to sitting at the top of the dunk tank, or they may exchange with another volunteer and go towel off before rejoining the charity ball.
How can I get my character to participate?Either have them volunteer, or have someone strong-arm them into participating! No sign-ups are necessary for the dunk tanks.
Moonblessed Date Auction
The Moonblessed Date Auction will be a silent auction held during the charity ball itself. Hologram busts of those who've volunteered (or been signed up) to participate will display over a tablet where people looking to bid on winning a date with that Moonblessed can make their bid.
This is a date auction. Who decides what to do for that date? The Moonblessed who was being bid on! All decisions for date activities fall onto them, though if they lack ideas for date-like activities, the Lunatian Prismals running the auction have plenty to spare. Are there any limitations on who can bid on who in the date auction?Yes. ICly, teenagers are encouraged to bid on fellow teenagers, while adults are encouraged to bid on fellow adults. OOCly, when signing up, please communicate and fill out any restrictions on the sign-up form. When placing bids OOCly on April 11th, be sure to respect any listed restrictions. How are winners decided?OOCly. If you know who is going to win your character's auction from the start, include that information in the sign-up form. The rest will be listed for open bidding in a separate OOC post which will go up in the OOC Community on April 11th.Can we sign up with another character in mind for winning the Moonblessed Date Auction?Yes! Fill out the appropriate field in the sign-up form. When will players be able to bid on characters participating in the Moonblessed Date Auction? On April 11th. At that time, an OOC post with the final list of Moonblessed Date Auction participants and Silent Auction items will go live. How many bids can be placed per character? There will be a maximum of 7 OOC bids placed per character. This is to keep OOC bidding organised. ICly, bids can be stated to have gone on for any length of time. At the time where bidding is closed, the last bid placed will be the winning bid. Should no bids be placed by PCs, then NPCs will have won the bidding. Can I end bidding for my character early?Yes. If you would like to end your character's bidding on any particular bid, comment to your character's thread stating whose bid you're calling as the final bid. When is the Moonblessed Date Auction closed OOCly?
Please respect a player's choice of a final bid. They're not obliged to wait for seven bids, nor are they obliged to accept the current final bid should they wish to accept one placed earlier, for whatever reason. We're all busy! We can't always comment in a timely manner.By timestamps, at 23:59 (11:59 PM) GMT April 15th.
Silent Auction
The silent auction consists of gift certificates, packages, or goods which are silently bid on during the evening of the charity auction ball. Each item is either present or has a visual representation of the item present, with an associated tablet for people to use for placing bids.
ICly, the silent auction will be running over the course of the charity ball, and will close the hour before the ball officially ends.
When is the Silent Auction closed OOCly?By timestamps, at 23:59 (11:59 PM) GMT April 15th.Can I make suggestions for items (gift certificates, experiences, packages, goods, etc) to be offered in the silent auction?Yes! Please fill out the appropriate form below. How are winners determined for Silent Auction items?Once the Silent Auction closes...
If there is only one of an item, the winner will be randomised from the people who commented to "bid" on that item. If there are a specific, limited number of that item available, and more people comment to "bid" than there are available items, winners will be randomised. If there are "many" of an item, all those who comment to "bid" will win that item.
All auction winners will be announced on the OOC post where the Silent Auction items are listed after the Silent Auction closes. (So after 23:59 GMT on April 15th.) Winners will receive a comment to their bid indicating they won.

Be creative with what NPCs or PCs could donate: anything from items to gift certificates to unique or different experiences are on the table! Past that, you're more than welcome to have him ICly advertise it's going on, since you can pretty much assume now he's a lead contact between Lunatians and Moonblessed for this charity event! So if you wanted him to say anything on the network or the rest is A+ (just as not doing anything with it is also A+)!
