▶ EVENT.007

The news is all over Lunatia: all communication lines to the Iris moon have been cut off. The cause? Small, floating jellyfish known as Vierge jellies. Three weeks ago, the creatures snuck aboard a passenger ship carrying newly arrived Moonblessed and messed with the ship’s internal mechanisms, causing the ship to break down and make an emergency landing just outside of Lunatia. Ever since the incident, messages and reports from the government center in Iris have ceased altogether, giving Lunatians on the planet much concern.

Lunar Scientia and the Moon Knights have made attempts to travel to Iris themselves, but to no avail. Whenever the Lunatians approach the Iris moon, they grow weak and feverish despite the protection of their suits, finding it difficult to breathe. No matter what they do, the affliction forces them to retreat each time. Perhaps more equipped for the lunar dangers ahead, it is the Moonblessed who are asked to return to the Iris moon to investigate the cause after they’ve run out of other options.

Plans 1-8 from Outer Space
Days 1-3: Iris moon or Lunatia | top

Participating Moonblessed are told to report to the Crystarium Moonports in Level 1 where they are given LIFE suits for exploration. LIFE is a special form-fitting full body suit and helmet that is capable of providing ample chroma to keep the wearer alive through the most hazardous environments. In the case of lingering jellyfish threats, these suits will provide them with an extra layer of protection against the jellies as they prepare to go into the depths of the Iris Moon! They will also be given a state-of-the-art helmet that provides visual schematics of the surrounding area as well as lightning detectors.

When you reach Iris, you will find a group of evacuated scientists gathered using transport vehicles as temporary housing, unable to leave the planet due to their illnesses and jelly-infested spaceships. They believe Vierge jellies are what caused the malfunctions at the Amphoria Room and several other notable technical difficulties for Lunatian facilities in the past.

On the transport vehicles on Iris and the technology across Lunatia, screens flicker on and off. Sometimes, they show the waves of an ocean evoking a familiar pattern from the sands of the Glory before. After a while, the screens finally show the visage of a large tentacled creature wearing a crown of ink and eels.

“I am Tempeste,” she declares with a deep, dignified voice that seems to echo off grotto walls, “Queen of the Vierge Kingdom. Wretched creatures favored by the moons, there is one thing I desire above all else —- Chroma. For several millennia we have been trapped within the depths of Iris, seeing nothing but a mockery of our once-vast oceans. Soon we shall be free from our prison, and my people and I shall not cease until we have drained this stronghold dry!”
LUNATIA  Back in the city, electronics have gone haywire! Blenders will regurgitate liquid at your face; bidets will flood your derriere with an uncomfortable amount of water; personal massage wands will electrocute your intimate areas; elevators will either stop midway or plummet to the ground. The Vierge jellies from weeks ago have made their way into the city and multiplied, spilling out from air ducts, windows, and furniture at any given moment. No gunpowder or gelatine from this killer queen, but she’s certainly pulling out all the stops for this invasion!

This mission’s success is paramount due to the Viergean invasion. Participating Moonblessed on the Iris moon will be split into three parties: Team  ALPHA  will be sent to the Iris government center, Team  BETA  will be sent to the Glory excavation site, and Team  GAMMA  will be composed of medics and rescuers.

The scientists on Iris will accompany Team ALPHA. They report a severe jelly invasion of the government facilities. Vierge jellies are constantly wandering in and around the government center, as the buildings have been fashioned by the Vierge jellies into a hive of their own. The walls and equipment crackle and spark at random, making it dangerous for any ordinary Prismal to enter.
ALPHA   ALPHA team’s goal is to search and destroy every single one of these pests and protect the scientists as they reclaim and repair the facilities! If your character is capable, they are also free to assist in the repairs. Most of the critters are clustered inside the reactor, feeding on the Demichroma powering the facilities and jamming communication signals. Clear the area of jellyfish and contact mission control on Lunatia! The Vierge jellies will be quick to latch your face or limbs and give you a shock powerful enough to paralyze the affected area for about an hour as they slowly feed on you. Call the GAMMA team, this can be remedied with enough patience and moonlacing!

GAMMA   While the mission is underway, the GAMMA team will drive and protect the remaining vacant transport vehicles, preventing the jellies from converting them into moving hives. If anyone needs to rest or moonlace at anytime, these vehicles are the place to be. The GAMMA team will generally stay in the vehicles in case of emergencies, but may be called on by ALPHA and BETA teams for backup. Each one is fully stocked with medical supplies and rescue equipment should anyone need it. Any severely injured Moonblessed or Prismal will be taken care of this team! ALPHA and BETA teams can call them on their devices for help.

She’s a Killer Queen
Days 4-5: Iris moon | top

While the jellyfish are being taken care of, the BETA team will head down into the Glory to stop Queen Tempeste’s escape. As you may recall, a Chroma-powered lift will lower you to the antechamber of the Glory. Since the Moonblessed’s last visit, the queen’s appearance has unlocked a new door leading to other unexplored chambers further underground.

As a result of the earlier assistance of the Moonblessed who previously investigated the tombs, the scientists have decrypted more of the ancient Vierge language and uploaded a translation program into everyone’s LIFE helmets, enabling you to read it on the go. While its flawed (and sometimes funny) machine translation isn’t the best, it seems that the runes on the once vaulted doors speak avidly of Queen Tempeste. The Queen had apparently been sealed inside the moon after an attempted invasion of the ancient Prismals’ home planet. As you go deeper inside, the various runes continue to warn about unsealing the queen until they all but disappear.
BETA   The corridors that lead further into the dark ancient tomb are long and labyrinthine, their stone walls lined with various chambers that serve as temples or treasure rooms. The soft snap and crackle of electricity never quite dies down, hinting at more jellies in the area. Be sure to use the buddy system and hold hands! You don’t want to lose anyone inside.

Many a reckless grave robber have fallen victim to the vicious traps within. Stepping on certain panels with the mark ₪ (translated to “Mark of the Destroyer”) will open a trap door that drops unsuspecting victims into a pit of hungry jellies, which sounds kind of silly until they start feeding on your face as the chamber walls close in on you. Touching certain runes on the doors will also trigger lasers from the walls on both sides and zap all those standing in between. To progress, you must touch the runes in a certain order according to the ancient sacred texts engraved on the walls. Are you going to trust LIFE’s machine translations?

At the center of the tomb is the queen’s chamber, treasure filling every corner as it spills onto the floor. A large, golden idol of a massive, crowned octopus-like creature sits in the middle of it. Each of its arms is embedded with a bright, glistening jewel. Those who remove the jewel or steal any of the treasures lying around will cause synthetic tentacles to suddenly rise from the treasure room floor to spike or penetrate those in its wake.

Unfortunately, the BETA team will ultimately fail. Queen Tempeste will inevitably possess several Moonblessed across the Iris moon and curse them with a gluttonous, insatiable desire for Chroma from their allies, desperate to take it in any way they can. The possessed Moonblessed will be compelled to “worship” the Queen and give her a generous offering of Chroma to aid her escape.
IRIS   Rising from beneath the sands of the Glory, a gigantic sand kraken: Queen Tempeste is free, and she will do everything she can to rise to her full strength and awaken her slumbering army. She wreaks havoc on the Moonblessed, burying them in the sand or strangling them with her tentacles as she sucks the Chroma out of them. All the Moonblessed on the Iris moon have no choice but to fight against the terrifying kraken queen and her loyal subjects.

Moonblessed face the danger of being whisked away by her armored tentacles and given to her smaller Chroma-draining brethren. Her army of Korokiels are warriors that strike terror (and arousal?) into the hearts of men. They tightly wrap around their captured victims to give them a “kiss of death”: their tongues secrete an aphrodisiac into their victim’s mouths to loosen them up as they feed on their Chroma. Try not to get caught! The kraken queen herself has skin that is incredibly tough and impervious to most elements. Work together to tear through her defenses so the Prismals can seal her back into the tomb!

Release the Kraken!
Next lunar cycle | top

Over the next few days after Queen Tempeste’s defeat, some Moonblessed will notice the Mark of the Destroyer ₪ slowly appearing on their arms and gradually darkening. In the next lunar cycle, they will gain access to a temporary, one-time transformation into kraken, large octopus- or squid-like creatures, with the power of Queen Tempeste’s blessing.

These effects will become active only through the Moonblessed’s designated lunar cycle (i.e. if your character is a Sanguis moonblessed, it will only be available on Sanguis’ lunar cycle). Reminder this is only a temporary, one time blessing, which means it will only occur ICly once. You may have it active either during a specific moon’s cycle OR during the three-moon cycle.
  • The moon will appear black in the sky to the eyes of those affected.

  • Those affected may have their skin, lips, and/or nails turn bluish-purple. Their eyes may also earn prismatic hues. Their transformations may range from suction pads on their hands and feet, tentacles either alongside or in place of their limbs and/or hair, to a fully transformed kraken or a similarly large soft-bodied cephalopod (no larger than a standard double-decker bus). They may also have octopus or squid patterns along their chest or backside, and their skin may change colors and patterns according to their mood. Feel free to be creative with your character’s appearance!

  • Krakens are associated with dark-aspected magic. Those affected don’t need water to move around but may find ease in the ocean, as they will also be able to jet over water surfaces and within bodies of water. However, they do not have water-aspected magic. They are able to shoot spurts of umbral ink that can temporarily blind their targets. When released, this magical ink may behave like regular ink or float as if it was released in water. This ink can also stimulate or relax the poor, unfortunate souls trapped within it depending on the user’s mood.

  • Their personality traits reflect confidence, passion, and a wonder for everything around them. Their worst traits are their pride, obsession and impulsivity. These bold, devil-may-care pleasure seekers are difficult to impress, often flitting from one passing interest to another. Once they find what they seek, however, they covet it for as long as they are able, like a treasure buried in the depths of the sea...

  • They are known for siphoning Chroma for themselves rather than providing any during moonlacing. The Moonblessed will not be aware of this fact and may inadvertently suck their partners dry (no pun intended). This is nullified if two krakens moonlace together. NSFW (optional): They are best suited with multiple partners as they can easily experience and/or provide multiple orgasms and possess a low refractory period. The more orgasms they experience, the more Chroma is siphoned out, leaving their partners very weak and close to suffocating after.

REMINDERS
As always, remember to ask permission from other players when appropriate!

Every prompt is voluntary! You may opt out of the mission entirely and stay in Lunatia. If you are staying in Lunatia, you do not have to be affected by the Lunatia prompt! You are free to handwave that they were able to luckily evade the chaos.

You are OOCly free to choose the team your character is assigned to.

With the lightning detectors, you can determine the locations of jellies by tracking the source points of static charges or any moving high electrical targets.

You are free to assume and come up with other possible traps your character might encounter in the Glory. Likewise, you are free to assume any ominous phrases encountered in the Glory.

For BETA team members who are in need of help from GAMMA team, the GAMMA team needs to exit the Glory and bring them back to the transport vehicles carrying necessary supplies and equipment, as the vehicles are a tight fit inside!

Soft-bodied cephalopods include octopus, squid or cuttlefish. No nautiluses.
